Jane Maddern’s soaps are made entirely by hand from the highest quality vegetable-based ingredients. Each soap is wrapped and hand sewn into cotton fabric and makes for a truly individual gift. Stella Moore is a fine watercolour artist as well as musician. Her work is inspired by Somerset’s landscapes and from her travels to places such as Scotland and France. Her work is often on show in the Dining Room of Compton House. Contact Dave at davestellamoore@aol.com



Trudi Day, a teacher of Art, fine water colourist and oil painter known for capturing the natural beauty and essence of Somerset in her work. Trudy also runs Art courses locally and abroad for budding painters. Her work is widely exhibited and is often on show in Compton House as are her distinctive cards. Heather Robinson makes the most beautiful hand crafted silk boxes and books. Fabulous gifts for christenings, weddings and special occasions. She also undertakes commission work. Roy and Jane Shallish are fine, local artists and sculptures and are popular exhibitors in the local area. Much of their work depicts scenes in the local area and captures the spirit of Axbridge. Roy’s handcrafted wire garden sculptures of geese and ducks are intricately designed and one of his stunning goose sculptures is the icon for this web page. Lucy Howell creates unique and humorous papier maché animals and characters in bright, exciting colours. Some of her amazing work is on sale in Compton House.

 



The Drugstore gallery at 4 high st is a small gallery that allows photographers Barry Cawston and Soraya Schofield to exhibit and sell their personal work. In their commercial work they concentrate largely on editorial, reportage and architectural photography, whilst their personal work also incorporates landscape and 'art' imagery.
