This always was going to be an occasional Newsletter – but not necessarily this occasional.
During the spring we have remodelled the terrace and introduced some new lavender beds as well as laying new, lighter – and level – gravel. So much better for that pre-dinner aperitif. We have also installed a new cooker over which Patricia waves her culinary wand with ever move aplomb. More than that, we have has the great pleasure of seeing a number of old friends back for a second – and even third – time.
We also had our first Georgian wedding – with an authentic Georgian meal.
We have had a number of successful paint-days, both oils with Trudi Day and watercolours with Stella Moore (Stella is our featured artist this time). The painting classes start again in the autumn and if you book a double room for the weekend, the painting class comes free!
Our main event of the summer was an evening of folk music with the Somerset Levellers. In September, we are planning an evening of Noel Coward with the Wedmore Theatre Company. More in the next – less occasional – newsletter.
Other activities include:
The Somerset Showcase on 1st September:

An ideal time to visit Axbridge. It combines with the Farmers Market and there will be a Frairtrade fashion and craft show as well as a host of other activities. This includes a traditional Punch and Judy on the lawn at Compton House as well as entertainment by The Axbridge Singers.

Our featured artist is Stella Moore, a talented watercolour artist – as well as the music director for The Axbridge Singers. Many of Stella’s watercolours hang in Compton House. She is a talented teacher and her painting lessons, like those of Trudi Day, offer a day of complete relaxation, inspiration and renewal.
